You've written your book, and now what..? You're an author, not a sales rep!
Many authors don't realize that book promotion is about nothing more than sheer graft! It isn't rocket science, but it can feel like it if you don't have the contacts in place, knowledge of method, or experience of timing. This is where we come in.
Our short menu comprises the most basic tasks, which are tedious and time-consuming, but simply cannot be avoided if you are serious about promoting your book.
Click on one of the boxes to find out more. But, before you start spending good money on book promotion, we highly recommend that you are able to complete the following checklist:
BOOK RELEASE CHECKLIST!
- MY BOOK IS LISTED ON AMAZON. How we all love them, for resounding success in their almost theocratic mission of obliterating an ancient global industry and reshaping it in their image. Still, like them or not, just try being a successful author without them! Your book will be expected to be there by... well, pretty much everyone. To list your book on Amazon use their KDP platform - click here to find out more.
- I AM A GOODREADS AUTHOR. If you are not aware, Goodreads is a fantastic and very busy community of authors, both traditionally- and self-published, and reviewers who pick up your book will very likely expect to find you here. Furthermore, it's free! Make sure your bio and your book listings are all up to date. Click here to join Goodreads.
- I AM ON FACEBOOK. Love it or hate it, Facebook is a great way of keeping in touch with your growing network of readers and fellow authors. If you have flash promotions or events planned, this is where you can tell people at very short notice. In fact, while you're at it, you may as well join LinkedIn too. Join Facebook here.
- PERHAPS I'LL GIVE NETGALLEY A TRY. By no means essential (unlike the items above). Everyone knows full well that us authors are laden with riches, and for those of us with cash to burn, NetGalley is considered a pretty good investment; it is more or less an online book fair, running all the time, where agents, reviewers and other useful professionals can browse for books they find interesting and may like to feature. Be warned, though, as you may have guessed by our tone, NetGalley is not cheap! Click here to visit NetGalley.
