SPOTLIGHT AUTHOR INTERVIEW!

"THE HANGMAN RETURNS"

By Dee Rose

The Hangman Returns by Dee Rose
BA sighed and turned to the Hangman. “He’s never going to stop hunting you for your powers, your weapon, or your ring. You know that, right?”
February's Spotlight Feature is an interview with U.S. author, Dee Rose, about his upcoming fantasy thriller, The Hangman Returns.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Dee Rose was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. He has two beautiful daughters, Nadia and Nicole, who are his life and inspiration. He resides in Denver, CO, where he attended Metropolitan State University and majored in Political Science. He considers the HMU to be his baby that he has nurtured quickly, but with extreme patience. He says, “Along with my kids, the HMU will be my legacy. Hopefully, they will all endure long after I’m gone.”

What is The Hangman Returns about?

Five years have passed since the Hangman, A.K.A Kente Cromwell Sr, was sent back to Purgatory. He is close to being allowed to enter Heaven when tragedy strikes back on Earth. His wife is killed by the sorcerer, Damian Red, who is in search of the Ring of Light for his master, the demon lord Hangoctuforre.  Kente Jr, is now hell-bent on revenge for his mother.  However, Kente Jr is not only using the Ring of Light to destroy supernatural creatures, but he is also killing humans as well.  This forces BA, the Bad Angel, to reluctantly return to Purgatory and help the Hangman escape in hopes of reigning in his son.

Meanwhile, Hangoctuforre has once again gathered demons and vampires, along with the fallen angel Comet, and Damian Red, to launch another assault on the Earth.  The Earth’s only defence is the vampire slayer, Jericho Caine, the demon hunter, Father Tom Padilla, and a wizard, Alexander Merryweather.  Together with a new hero, Susan Taki, they once again need to convince the Hangman to join the fight.  But the Hangman must deal with Kente Jr first and decide if he even wants to participate in the coming war.  With side stories and action scattered throughout, The Hangman Returns is an action-packed thrill-ride.

Why did you decide to write it?

The Hangman Universe is written in stages.  This is the third stage out of five.  It picks up after four novellas were written and continues the story of the half-demon.

How did you get your book published?

Outskirts Press.  I trust them with my work.

What types of readers will be interested in your book?

The readers that are interested in my books are readers, who love all things supernatural.

What is special about your book?

The special element in this book is that the Hangman is neither good nor evil.  He only exists to help himself.  Sometimes that’s on the side of good and sometimes it can be evil.

What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

The thing that differentiates my book from others in this category is my style of writing.  Along with the drama, it’s witty, funny and told with an urban flare.

Have you published any other books?

I have published other books as part of the series, starting with:

The Hangman

The Grand Librarian: Life of an Immortal

Father Tom Padilla: Curse of the Demon Priest

Jericho Caine, Vampire Slayer: Dakota Rises

The Bad Angel: Redemption

And, do you plan to publish more?

Yes.  The next book in the series will be The Grand Librarian: The Future Wizards.

Andy thought of flying. She imagined the air under her arms, her hair lifting and floating. She felt her heartbeat separate from the faraway beat and form its own rhythm: light, quick, a dancing thrum. When she opened her eyes, her yard was dusky and her mood had lightened. She let her gaze drift across the darkening landscape. Andy's heart filled with exultation. She raised her arms, fanned out her fingers, and arched her feet until she was on her toes. "I have changed," she whispered. The light exploded into a ring of fire in a black sky: total eclipse. She gently rose up into the warm, dark air and began to dance.
